Personal Blogs About Teaching & Learning

Blog 1: Learning as a Lifelong Journey
I’ve come to see learning as a lifelong process; something that stretches far beyond the walls of a classroom. It’s about curiosity, reflection, and growth. Teaching, to me, isn’t just about sharing knowledge; it’s about inspiring others to ask questions, explore ideas, and connect learning to their everyday lives. I believe in creating space where students feel safe to take risks and express themselves. The best learning happens when we allow for mistakes, value different perspectives, and honour the journey just as much as the outcome.

Blog 2: Building Rapport and Connection
Teaching is about relationships. It’s about building trust, showing up with empathy, and seeing each student as a whole person. I’ve realized that learning happens best when students feel seen and heard. As a teacher, I want to create a space that welcomes vulnerability, laughter, struggle, and success. I’m learning to listen more, guide gently, and step back when needed. For me, teaching is not about having all the answers, it’s about walking alongside others as we learn together. That shared process is what makes it impactful.

Blog 3: Honouring Different Ways of Knowing
One of the most powerful things I’ve learned as a future educator is the importance of honouring Indigenous Ways of Knowing. Learning should not always come from a book. It can be shared through story, place-based activities, relationships, and experience. These teachings remind me that knowledge is relational and rooted in respect. I want to make space for Indigenous voices in the classroom by listening, learning, and authentically sharing resources, giving credit to the sources. Teaching to me means holding space for multiple perspectives and creating a classroom where all ways of knowing are valued and honoured with care.
